GRUPO ARANIA JOINS THE BASQUE ALLIANCE FOR THE SDG

At GRUPO ARANIA, our commitment to society and the United Nations Global Compact (2030 Agenda) drives us to participate actively and generate value for our customers and for society.

For this reason, as of November, GRUPO ARANIA is now part of the Basque Alliance for the SDG.

What is the 2030 Agenda?

The 2030 Agenda is an agenda for hope and change.

It's a UN agreement, reached in 2015 and signed by 193 countries, to meet 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which focus on a sustainable world and way of life and prioritise eradicating poverty.

Sustainability and solidarity are the key to achieving a fairer and more ecological, prosperous and peaceful world in 2030.

The 2030 Agenda in the Basque Country

In the Basque Country, the Basque Government considers the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable development goals a social contract for progress and equality.

Along this line of action, on 2 October the Basque Alliance for the Sustainable Development Goals was constituted. This commitment by institutions and companies is the result of the work carried out within the inter-institutional and social structure “Foro Agenda 2030 Euskadi” and GUNEAK, a space which opens up participation to more entities and multiplies public, private and of civil society collaboration to develop processes of collaboration and alliance.

Alongside this agreement, the “Declaration for a 2030 Agenda Social Contract in The Basque Country” and the “Guide for developing the 2030 Agenda in companies and organisations” were presented. You can consult these documents at their links (spanish).

The 2030 Agenda at Grupo Arania

These are the areas of the company in which action to meet the selected SDG is focused and some of the active projects in each of them:

Economy and governance: Start-up of the Compliance Model as an Organisation and Management Model. This model aims not only to avoid criminal sanctions, but also to promote a true ethical business culture

Social: Organisation and launch of the Footprint Initiative for health, an internal scheme that aims to improve the quality of life of our workforce.

Environment: The organisation's carbon footprint. All of the companies in the Group have calculated or are in the process of calculating their carbon footprint. This involves measuring the total amount of greenhouse gases that companies emit direct or indirectly as a result of their operations.

Nothing will change if we don't change it.
