LIVING SUSTAINABILITY PROJECT: PILLAR AND CORE OF SUSTAINABILITY

In 2023, Grupo Arania has launched the new Sustainability Department, whose main goal is to promote sustainable growth and a culture focused on caring for stakeholders and the environment. The Group wants to generate value for customers and the community, reflecting its commitment to society and the United Nations Agenda 2030.

The Living Sustainability project is born to support Grupo Arania’s commitment to sustainability. It is a strategic and cross-cutting initiative that seeks to give visibility and value to the performance and objectives of the new department, as well as unite the actions that will be implemented in the four companies in the corporation. Living Sustainability will be the pillar and core of Grupo Arania’s commitment to sustainability.

3 areas of action

Ana Guinea, Grupo Arania Sustainability Director, stressed that “the corporation’s philosophy, based on quality, a flexible customer service and reliability in products, processes and commitments, is enhanced when people, Corporate Social Responsibility, transparency and honesty are the central focus. We therefore not only focus on what we produce, but also on how we do it.”

The Living Sustainability project will take shape from three areas of action that will transcend Grupo Arania’s operations and processes:

ECONOMIC AND GOVERNANCE AREA

· It establishes a culture of sustainability that manages risks and opportunities through Corporate Social Responsibility.
· It consolidates ethical commercial practices based on the Code of Conduct, as well as actions guided by Due Diligence.
· It includes the implementation of responsible innovation policies such as positive contribution to the economic, social and environmental areas.
· It promotes cybersecurity and establishes responsible and transparent guidelines.

SOCIAL AREA

· It defends Human Rights and the implementation of health protection systems for workers, with a procedure that also protects equal opportunities and promotes training and both personal and professional development.
· Externally, the Group defines a social action strategy in favour of culture, inclusion, biodiversity and collaboration with educational institutions, sectoral and business organisations, clusters and institutions.

ENVIRONMENTAL AREA

· Compromiso con el desarrollo de los sistemas de gestión medioambiental y energética.
· Commitment to the development of environmental and energy management systems.
· Certification of Guarantee of Origin of electricity consumption of the facilities.
· Installation of photovoltaic panels and charging points for electric vehicles.
· Promotion of the Circular Economy.
· Decarbonisation, first step: calculation of carbon footprint.
· Commitment to “Green steel”, which will lead the way towards a world with lower CO2 emissions.
· Work for digitisation that reduces environmental impacts in production.
